HOW TO RECOGNISE THE ORIGINAL ROSE OIL
HOW TO RECOGNISE THE ORIGINAL ROSE OIL
Characteristics
The first tip to recognize the Rose Damascene oil is its
color and texture.
The Bulgarian Rose oil is of yellow or yellow-greenish color, and
thick structure – looking mostly like solid mass when temperature is below 25
C. Its crystalizing and dense structure is the reason it was once
measured in grams and kilograms - by weight, instead of a liquid.
At 25 C or above the Rose oil turns to a viscous liquid. To use the rose oil we simply need to warm the bottle in hand for a couple of minutes! This is not influencing the quality of the oil. In opposite, it guarantees the origin of the product, and that it hasn’t been diluted!
Wax seal
The rose distilleries usually have wax stamps, and use them to
ensure the quality of content. The small rose oil vials of 1-2ml, made in
Bulgaria, are usually inserted into traditional wooden containers which are wax
sealed.
The same containers are also offered as packing of the rose
perfume essences, but there is no wax stamp and the liquid is almost
transparent or light yellow shade.
The bigger rose oil bottles are usually joined by a certificate of authenticity or other documents and signs.
Its price
At last - the Damask Rose oil is among the most expensive ones in
the world, known as “the liquid gold”, it keeps high price with middle range of
25 Eur per 1ml (or 1g)
The essential oil contained in flowers of the Bulgarian rose varies from only 0,03 to 0,05%. Or 1 littre of oil is obtained from a huge amount of rose petals - 3000 – 3500 kg, those grow on about 10 000 square meters!
